My adult male leopard gecko has some cute hunting techniques. If a cricket is right in front of him and he's staring right at it but it's not moving, he sort of barks at it to startle the cricket. So when it moves, that's when he strikes. But here's another thing. Just before he's about to strike, he rattles his tail.
I think it's really amusing, but even for all his cute habits, he's no match for the hunting prowess of the female. She tends to hide and then snaps at the unuspecting cricket that's looking for a place to hide.
Is this typical for gecko behavior?
