Ok, I'm confused with one of my snakes. I have two females, and I introduced them to the males at the same time. Well, one female, who i've bred the last two years, has already shed, laid, post shed, and ate. Well, the second female wasn't eating for the longest time, which I took as a sign she was ready to lay. Well, the last two weeks, she's taken food. So, here I am thinking that I did something wrong (or more to the point, the male snake did something wrong) and she wasn't gravid. Well, today, I noticed she's eye capped. So, the million dollar question is...

Is she gravid, and gonna lay soon, or should I put her with the male again? Or, even better, has anyone had a female who's about to lay eggs, all the sudden start eating again?

Let me know. Thanks in advance.

AJ

Hi

Why don't you put her in with the male a few times without the other female anywhere near by and see what happens. Maybe you have a dominance thing going on between the females.

Some females eat the whole time they're gravid. Has she gotten "thicker" looking? Can you feel bumps in her? There's no harm in waiting a week or so after her shed, with a nest box in her cage, to see if she lays. Then you can re-introduce her to the male if she doesn't drop eggs.
