God, you sure do have some beautiful snakes. I love your entire collection! Thumbup!
Thanks and what's Thumbup?
here's a baby Lav. speck

and here's one in shed

I just said thumbup (meant thumbsup) to give you kudos on the snakes!!
My blotched Florida is only about 4 1/2 months old like I said, he's already about 20 inches long and he's got GREAT girth to him (assuming IT is a HIM), so I doubt he's sick. His eyes aren't really opaque though, they're just cloudy. Do they get cloudier and cloudier every day until a couple days before they shed or how does it work? Like I said, the first day I saw it, it was barely noticeable, then the 2nd day they got a little more cloudy and today it looks the same, so I have no idea what's going on with him.
Also, I'm taking this chance to ask you because I know you're one of the most knowledgeable people on this site... What is a "brooksi"? Is it a word that describes a florida king? Just asking because alot of brooksi that I have seen on here look a lot like my blotched florida king, color wise and head design wise. Thanks in advance.
Why i asked about Thumbup is,it's the sound a vehicle makes when running over a snake.
About shedding, a snake get's cloudy eyes and dull coloration before it happens, then it's eyes clear up and it's skin clears up then it discards it's old skin.
about brooksi, just a southern florida king lighter in color than a northern florida king.
good questions.
Here's a baby eastern black king immediatly after shed
Thank you very much Jetzen for responding to my newby-ish questions. Generally, how long does the snakes eyes and body get cloudy and dull for before they go back to normal (then, two-four days later, it sheds right?)? And also, do they get progressively more opaque as it gets closer to shed time, or just one day you wake up and they're a blue color? I'm sorry I'm asking such stupid and probably trivial questions, but I'm just EXTREMELY concerned about it. It's my first ever snake ya know? Thanks again, and sorry to take away from your thread.
BEAUTIFUL Lav.specks!! thumbSup!! lol
It varies from snake to snake but I would say about a week give or take a couple a days, then after they clear up 2-3 days to finish the process if it's been more days days and they still havn't finished then i give em a soak for a few hrs to soften the old skin.

Yeah, see in that pic, the snakes eyes look totally blue. My snake's are not. They're a little blue, but not that blue. I'm pretty convinced though that he's about to shed in a few days. He's really inactive and doesn't really liked to be touched right now (I'm guessing that's because his skin is sensitive to the touch.)
Anyhow, thanks again and thanks for posting all the beautiful pics that you do.
You're welcome and thanks for visiting the getula forum.
