My boa has a wood chip in her mouth. Is this something to worry about?

She she struck at the cage and got a chip in her mouth. I opened it up a bit it looks like its near her throat. Is it ok if she just swallows it?

it can be a real problem. i'll let some of the other, more experienced ones give you advice...but it would help if you said how large the piece was and if you could post a pic..that would help too.

Well I opened her mouth a bit and noticed it was down by her throat. No way I would be able to get it out. Its not a large piece, about a quarter of an inch. I fed her a small rat and she took it down along with the wood chip. Should be digested up along with the rat or passed out when she does her business.

Your boa will probably pass it just fine. I have had boas ingest wood chips befor and they passed it with no problem. I do suggest you keep a eye out for her next BM or just make sure she does have a BM. You dont want any blockage. Good luck
