I sure hope youre not holding that snapping turtle by the tail. You can cause serious spinal damages that way. Its ok to hold onto the tail, but put your hand underneath the shell to support the body weight. Common snappers can bring their head about half way up the back of their shell, but dont have the same flexibility underneath. You will get a handful of claws, so you may want to get some decent gloves.
