Is my snake a crossdresser?

CaptainHook2 Jul 02, 2005 04:38 PM

Gotcha! Seriously though I am unsure as to the sex of my burm. I'm sure it's no picnic for them to be probed so I've always left it alone even at the vet. Someone once mentioned on the forum that when they deficate, the hemipenis will protrude. Is this true and or reliable? I had the pleasure of observing Moses during a saok the other day and there was no protrusion. On the other hand he/she's been growing like crazy and to my knowledge is over 3 years old going on 4. Right now he's between 12 & 13 feet and roughly 45 pounds. Very nice shape, not overweight. He fasted over the winter then I realized he was getting to cold in his hide so I closed it off until the onset of warmer temps. Once he started eating he was a machine again. I've fallen short of food supply so he's been eating smaller animals, just more of them. Still looking for rabbits without purchasing them from the local pet store where they do not take very good care of the inventory. Anyway, what about the sex? Thanx!

I think the defecation/hemipenes thing happens with monitor lizards. It doesn't with the Cal kings and Pacific Gopher snakes that I've seen. Don't know about burms though. Your critter sounds healthy whatever gender he/she is.

LOL, OK who's the crossdresser? The snake or who it's wrapped around? Curious in Michigan.

Hey Mr. curious in Michigan, that's my mother in law who currently lives just outside of Detroit! When I tell her what you said she's gonna find you and you're gonna get the noogies of a lifetime! I can't believe you ripped the woman who gave birth to my wife! Oh man, you are in so much trouble!

LOL

LOL, sorry Bro. You said somebody was a crossdresser and I didn't see ANY clothes on the snake I'm about 3 hours north of Detroit but grew up in Clarkston, between Pontiac and Flint.
