Thinking of selling hatchlings

phishnuts Jul 02, 2005 04:55 PM

I am building a larger encloser next year. I am getting a house and am buiding an enclosure that will be suitable for 20 boxies and 8 spotteds.

I want these turtles to set free in areas around my house. I will be trying to replenish salamanders and certian snakes also. I will do the proper research too make sure they go to a suitable habitat.

I was thinking of selling some of the babies to help with costs of food, fence, plants, and cost of my project.

The only thing is,I do not want to sell to someone without an outdoor enclosure. Do you guys think what i am doing is wrong.

keep in mind that my area may be diffeent than your and your area may not be depleted of animals. So you may not feel the way i do.

What do you think?

Your post below states:
>I have kept wild boxies when I was younger. I let some go. I kept some for years. I am totally against it now. However, if someone finds a boxie crossing the street in a bad area area for boxies I will not kill them for it.
I don't take wild boxies because I have killed so many things in my life.<
So I guess you're talking about CB turtles. My opinion is that it isn't a good idea to release CB babies back into the wild. The possibilty of spreading disease into an otherwise healthy population is too great.
