Any one had any mouth rott probs with aspen

Rottenweiler9 Jul 02, 2005 08:28 PM

The other day I went to check on my super and it had a whole bunch or the aspen chips in its mouth trying to get it out. I think because I sprayed in there he tried to drink from there instead of the bowl, I took him out and got most of it our so he could close his mouth but that made me think that maybe the chips could cause that?

Thank you

Jeff

Didn't get any cases of mouth rot but did have several cases of what you described when I used loose substrate such as aspen and reptibark. I switched over to newspaper in my small cages and the indented craft paper in my large cages. Now substrate injestion is not a worry. My cages are much easier to clean and keep clean. Bill
