Eye problems

Argus411 Jul 02, 2005 10:12 PM

I have an eight month male panther chameleon that seems to have an eye issue. It does not appear to be that bad (yet) as it only seems to have an issue part of the time. Most of the time the eye looks fine but when sleeping, the chameleon will close its eye but its open just partially like there may be white gloss or something like that. Does anyone have any idea as to what I can do to help this poor guy or at least prevent it from getting worse until the vet comes back on the 6th?
Thank you
Adam

The safest thing to do is help him keep it cleaned out. You can squirt sterile saline (contact lens rinse) at the eye to help him. The saline won't sting as much as plain water. If you can see any sticky matter around the eye you could gently brush it away with a Q tip soaked with saline. The vet can examine the eye with an opthalmoscope when he gets in.
