Are the majority of suriname horned frogs available on the market wild caught? Where can I find them for sale?

I don't really know, but a few years ago; Yes that was the case.
Now, on the other hand, I think they are getting more common, but I would buy from a serious breeder just to make sure.

I'm also pretty sure that the CB Surinames have alot easier getting accoustoumed to crickets etc. as some reported that their WC Surinames would only eat other frogs.

Where can I find a serious breeder though? I have looked through kingsnake classifieds. I found one guy with cb babies from michigan but I don't think he is a serious, breeder. LLLreptile also has them ,but I not so sure about the quality of their animals.

Well I do know that LLLReptile seems to regularly carry WC adults for about $60. www.mascarino.com also claims to sell CB surinam horned frogs. An the rest that I've seen for sale have been WC adults in the kingsnake classifides.

I've order a horned frog from LLLreptile back in April. An it's doing well. But since it's WC I have to force feed it, otherwise it doesnt eat what I offer it. Although WC caught frogs do occassionally adjust to eating other live prey, like small live mice, instead of frogs. But I wouldn't count on it.

I've also ordered from Bryon, the guy in the kingsnake classifieds, he's selling first generation CB young green an green brown surinam horned frogs. When I ordered my two frogs he said that he had 40 still availible.
Mine are about an inch to an inch an a half snount to vent. They're feeding on 2-4 large crickets, about every other day. With an occassional small livebearer as a treat.
his e-mail is bthwood@semvma.com if anyone is interested in contacting him directly. or through his ad

he's a busy veterinary doctor so he may, or may not reply right away.

If your interested in buying a Surinam horned frog I'd suggest going for captive bred. Because they'll feed regularly on common feeder insects/animals. An with WC animals it's sort of luck if you get a healty animal, that doesn't have an unhealty parasite load.

oh yea... this place also sells some too www.thereptilecenter.com/Live-Reptiles_Amphibian_Frog_Surinam-Horned-Frog. I think I've also seen FYB Exotics sell some occassionally in the classifieds.
