I was considering getting a pair of Timor Monitors but after posting and getting responses about their shyness and such, and also reading elsewhere about this, I have decided not to (I atleast like to be able to observe my animals without them hiding). I was looking around and saw Freckled Monitors and Black Headed Monitors at some sites and remembered that I had/have been very interested in atleast getting a single animal of one of these species. I know they are sub species and such, and am interested in both. However, I have never found too many people breeding them, and their availability is not so common (from what I've noticed, and I know v. tristis trists is less common in the US). Is there a reason for this (I'm guessing price?)? Any info on breeders and upkeep would be greatly appreciated, as well as experiences and advice with either of these species. Thanks!
