Boa still not eating

tredding Jul 03, 2005 03:46 PM

Well I left her with the rat overnight. Man did that thing stink up the room! She must have been hatin it. Did not eat. I gues before going live I will try one more time with a frozen medium sized inside her regular cage where she might feel safer? Any other suggestions? You can read my earlier post for more info.
Thank you
Travis

Instead of feeding live, I would feed fresh killed. Just knock the rat out and move it with tongs in front of the boa. A live rat can hurt your snake. Some snakes will not easily accept f/t. But almost always go for f/k.
Good luck

I have been very lucky and been able to acclimate wild caught B.C.C.What I have done is.......
1.Make sure she had a nice tight hide.
2.The night I was going to feed her,I would raise the ambient temps 3 -5 degrees higher. To give her an appetite.
3.I would feed her late at night and just leave it in front or in the hidebox.
4.Don't try to heat it up or dangle it in front of the boa.tHE ONLY GOOD THAT WOULD DO IS SCARE OR FREAK THE BOA OUT MORE.The boa is still adjusting.Give it time.
5.Stick to smaller sized prey until it feeds regularly.
GOOD LUCK.
