I have wondered what I'd get if I paired up one like yours with one like the one i have pictured.
Do you have experience with this type of pairing??
Thanks.

You would probably get normal banded ones, lol!

Seriously the striped one is a naturally occuring abberancy from the Borrego (Scissors crossing) area near San Diego. Its the only place where you will find desert striped kings. Kinda cool area since the area/habitat is so small making me think they should be protected but they won't because it still falls under the Calif king king category.

The one FR has is a result from many years of selective breeding and it not easy to create a perfect reverse striped one like he has.

Crossing the two will probably get you abberant patterns mixed with stripes and bands.

Okay I'll shut up now and let FR answer the question.

Just up from the crossing in 67 or 68, hahahahaha a very long time ago.

That striper is very very nice.

Also, I would have no idea what would result in a crossing. It would be interesting.

Thanks, FR

Nice cal king Frank. I got one just like it.

This is the 2nd year that I bred her. I bred her this year to the same Albino High White that I did last year. The Albino High White male has a partial stripe going down his back. Of course with this paring I found out that my High White Reverse Stripe female is also het for albinism as I produced some albinos, to include an Albino High White Reverse Stripe (female).

You rock! It's nice to know a guy like you with your monitor collection still has normal stuff.

FR Jul 04, 2005 10:37 AM

I had snakes lonnnnnnnggggggggg before I had monitors, in fact, I would not consider myself a monitorphile, hahahahahaha, I am a herper, I have always been a herper, I have always been a field herper first and formost.

Consider this, we have eggs at this time from, turtles, torts, lizards and snakes. But again, I am a field herper.

Monitors are fun and I would surely be more interested in them if I lived where they occur, but I don't. I would guess that if I were to wear a label, a snake guy would be more accurate. No need for you fellas to label me. hahahahahaha

My favorite U.S. snakes are kingsnakes, I do field work with rattlesnakes. Oh wait, indigos are totally cool, as are hognose, I love water and gardersnakes, how about lyresnakes, one of my first favorites. Ringnecks are out of hand. Oh yea, coralsnakes are bad, as in really bad, and and and and and death adders are awsome, and and and and womas, and, Thanks FR

I have three pits at this time, two from my driveway and one from our vinesnake site. My friends were ragging on me for stopping and taking pics of all the dang pits. To bad for them, hahahahahahaha.

By the way, there are many in my area that are abberant. Thanks FR
