I'm able to find it at regional plastic and sign supply distributors. Plastic distributors tend to be a bit cheaper.

You also might google totalplastics and see what location is nearest to where you live. They also carry PVC angle which is very helpful when trying to join PVC without a thermal welder.

Hi Chris

I was wondering how stong are the pvc joints utilizing the jointers compared to plastic welding? Would this be strong/sturdy enough for racks with the Iris CB-70/75 tubs? Thanks.

The joint with pvc angle is as strong, probably stronger, than a thermal weld. Thermal welds are A LOT cheaper, however, to the guy/gal doing a lot of assembly who can justify the cost of a welder.

The one issue with the larger tubs is the tendency for plastic to sag. 1/2" expanded PVC overcomes this fairly well but is very expensive and heavier than you'd expect. Factor in the amount of material required for a rack holding larger boxes and you still spend a lot of cash to build a rack.

Plan carefully.

one thing most people do not realize is that the welding of "sintra/ kometex etc" or anything with a foamed core has a huge learning curve. as with conventional "stick welding" on steel. You have to have the materials being welded and the stick ( in this case PVC rod) the same temps. If not what you end up with is a scorched collasped material , by this i mean the sintra has a thin skin of solid PVC overlayed onto a foamed core that contains miniscule airbubbles. Now when the temps are not right what happens is the inner core will collapse due to the heat collapsing the inner core (aka air bubbles) you also to get a bettweter weld need to "chamfer" the edges of the material you weld. The biggest issue when welding sintra is the solid PVC rof doesnt heat to the same temps as the sintra it heats slower so therfore you can VERY easily end up melting the core of the sintra . if any one would like i have a welder for sale $30.00 shipping lol i have absolutely NO USE for it ... hell you pay shipping ill send it to you it has been used about 20 minutes andthen set aside due to this very reason.
