"The Crystal Ball" --- Bad Post Shed Photos

Python Dreams Jul 04, 2005 04:50 AM

I'm working on trying to get adequate photos of this little bugger. These photos are very dark and donot truly represent how she looks. I decided to post them due to the fact that they capture a little bit of her glowing purle underneath the yellow pattern. I was wondering if I would even be able to capture this in a photo, and it kinda came out here, while darkening the rest of her body. She is much lighter than this in person and I will post photos soon to update everyone. Let me know what you think...

One was A Mojave what was the other???

Python Dreams Jul 04, 2005 11:06 PM

I want to say Happy 4th and thanks for the responses everyone. As far as the mom goes, I am not going to release photos yet until I get a better understanding of what is going on. She is actually getting huge right now and has never had such an enormous appetite, so she will be breeding again this year. I would say that she is definitely not a YB, she just has some weird stuff going on. Even though I would almost picture a Mojave X Yellow Belly to look like the "Special Mojave", which was sibling to The Crystal, but not one person has responded saying that they think that one is a Yellow Belly. I could be wrong and maybe I just don't see the YB in the female, but if it was I would think it was probably an ingredient. Their probably will be others also hatching Mojave X Yellow Belly soon, so that will answer that question. I do have a female that might be gravid and has kinda started to nest which looked very similar to a YB that Camlon brought over. I will post photos of her to get some opinions (I don't think she is a YB, we just noticed similarities).
I also had another clutch from my male Mojave (Crystals dad) X Slightly Banded Normal, that produced 1 female Mojave (90 grams), 1 male normal and 4 huge female normals from 85 to 95 grams. All of the normals from this clutch have a granitish look with white bellies some black edging with orange creeping up and some speckling. Each also has some flaming. I will post a photo of that clutch in the next few days. It seems as if almost all my normals that I have produced have this look from 3 different females.
I'm off for another photo shoot right now and hopefully I will be more successful in capturing her look. If not I will have to buy a speedflash tommorrow.
Sorry for the long reply and I hope that answers some of the questions...
More photos soon...
Tom

I believe RDR already produced Yellow Belly (Goblin) X Phantom and there was no unexpected synergy between the two so I would not expect Mojave X YB to do anything special either.

Could this be an albino or caramel mojave, i.e. a recessive combo with Mojave and not a combo of two dominant genes?

I put my two cents worth.

Butter X Mojave.

Crystal seems like a highly patterned Super Mojave to me so butter seems logical.

Believe me if I had a Butter I would post it all over the place... I saw my first one in person a few weeks ago and it was a really amazing snake. It does have a little bit of that look to it though, just much lighter.

I'm thinking that it might be something along those lines, but I really don't know. Only time will really tell, but it definitely is not from any line of ALbino, even though she appears to almost have some of those characteristics.

This is a very awesome new morph, there's no doubt about that, but I do want to bring one thing to light to make sure there are no future problems.

I've been doing business under the name "Crystal Ball Pythons" for a couple of years now. I have my own Crystal Ball logo on my business cards. I'm starting to have people approach me and congratulate me on producing this new morph. This is giving me an uneasy feeling. I've worked hard for what I've produced and achieved so far and I don't want it confused with someone else's hard work (even if it is absolutely beautiful) and I'm sure you feel the same way.

I just wanted to voice my sentiments over this in a public way.
