Blood boa type 2 anery x dht for ghost-type 1 anery, what does this mean? .....

kirby Jul 04, 2005 10:01 AM

The blood boa male used in this breeding was from the litter that contained the first Pewters for Ron St Pierre and is a sibling to the bloods that Tracy uses to produce the pewters. The dhet for ghost was a female from my first ghost litter that is a type 1 anerythrisitc and people starting with Linda have used these animals many times to make ghosts with other type 1 anerys.
The interesting thing is the result of the litter. The litter was born at 94 days and the babies lived for 3 days. There were 3 babies and 3 slugs. The interesting thing is that there were 2 ghost boas and one anerythistic boa produced. I have seen many premature babies and these are real ghosts. The anery produced looks like a type 1 anery.
So what does this mean. Is the blood boa male really a type 1? Are type 1 and type 2 compatable and have type 1 and 2 been crossed to prove they are not? Unfortunatley these babies are no longer with us but I will do breedings in the next few years to further clarify things. Certainly the blood x hogg island boas are also het for anerythrism but what kind?
I would appreciate input from other breeders about this and hopefully you can enlighten me concerning my ignorance about what a type 1 vs type 2 anery is.

I am sorry they did not live. Good luck with your future breedings.

Well. The only Anerys I know of from Ron's original Blood group were Pewters, believed to be Type II Anery. Maybe they are Type I?

Type II and Type I have a few differences. First, obviously, the locale of the boa population in which the mutation occurs. The second difference comes in appearance. Type II are Hypothesized to be Axanthic as well. Some animals assumed to be Type II were not, they were just dark boas. For the animals produced in captivity to verify genetic inheritance, nothing has yet proven that they are indeed Axanthic.

Jeremy Stone's project may be the first to unveal this answer. The Blizzard (Type II Snow) has yet to be produced, however if this mutation leaves the animals without yellow, then the Type II gene can verifiably be considered Axanthic.

is that the "anery bit" is same in Type I and Type II unlike Sharp - and Kahl Albino Lineages. It is the axanthic-ish part in the Type II which differentiates it from a Type I ?

Please correct me if I am wrong. I would definately like to know more as well on this subject.
