i'd love to be able to know what goes on inside my tortoise's little marble-sized head. i had an iguana before, and, though i cherish her memory, i don't think that she seemed to have as much going on upstairs as "junior" does.

i've read that tortoises are supposedly among, if not *the*, most intelligent reptiles. so, with intelligence, do they dream?

i've watched junior sleep, and i've watched his head slowly, gently move while his eyes are shut. also, since i keep him in my bedroom, on my own sleep-deprived nights i occasionally hear him make tiny huff noises that sound like "pehh" or "pahh." they're not as loud or strong-sounding as the "pfff!" huffs he makes when i know he's awake and grumpy.

so are the movements and little sounds indicative of dreaming? i certainly think so. have any of the rest of you obserced things that would support (or not support) this idea?
