Anyone use those fresh air habitats?

Cdp75 Jul 04, 2005 04:06 PM

I was thinking about getting one for my WTF's but not too sure.
Anyone use one and like it?

You would have to watch the humidity level very carefully, they can dry out very fast if you dont have some of the sides covered or have a lot of plants to keep humidity in. I also dont think that the whites could stick to it very well (no idea though..) which wouldnt be too great for them because mine love to hide under the plant leaves in the corners.

It should be ok if you really want to use it, just buy a hygrometer and be prepared to mist a lot.

We looked at them today but not getting one. I do have alot of live plants in their tank now but I'm like you about the humidity thing. Those liner tray things for them apparently enclose the whole thing b/c it said in order to keep humidity up not to cut the sides out. Then you'd have to worry about water spots of that plastic stuff.
We have several lizard lounges for my snakes and I now think I'll get another one for my WTF's.

Not to mention the cost of those things! and the cost of the extra liners! You're better of custom designing something, that ways its perfect, and you have fun doing it

I think it could be done but I would have a large tub of water possibly with a small waterfall to help maintain the humidity. Also you will have to spray alot more often. I used to have WTF that would escape from his tank all of the time, luckily he was smart and would just go sit on top of my fish aquarium, which kept him from drying out. White's don't need as much humidity as alot of other tree frogs and in fact are prone to infections like red leg if not kept in the proper ocnditions.
