Is My Chameleon sick?

sunshine_ana Jul 04, 2005 05:41 PM

I have a 8 month old female veiled chameleon. She has white stuff on her head and "veil". Is this normal? is she sick or just shedding?

as her skin loosens from her body to make way for the new "size" it appears white and will come off in pieces. Be sure to keep her humidity up to help with the shedding. Mist her frequently with hot water (it cools when it hits the air) just not directly in the face. I would mist from above and let it fall on Luna. There should not be any problems, but watch for areas around tip of tail, ankles and other joints to make sure it comes off completely. Shedding can last a few days to a week.

Keep in mind that she is nearing the age of possibly developing a clutch of eggs. Make sure her husbandry is correct (temps, humidity, feeders, calcium and othe supplementation. Go to the link below for some sites to peruse.

Enjoy!
