Tadoles in my pond

dck5513 Jul 04, 2005 07:30 PM

I put in a small fish pond this year. I have 7 small to medium size Koi and Gold fish as well as half a dozen plants.

I have seen and heard frogs in and around the pond but they were especially loud early last week. I live in Southern New Jersey. I am not sure what kind of frog they are but their call is almost like a scream. very loud and very unpleasant.

Well, I realized today that there are literlly hundreds of tapoles in my pond. Tiny black specs with tails.

My questions are: can they harm the balance of my pond and endanger my fish and will I be facing a massive frog population in my pond when they grow up?

Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks.

Well the fish might eat the tadpoles or at least some of them so I doubt it would really mess it up.

They will make more ammonia but not alot since their small.

Just let them be. They all won't make it to adulthood anyway, so I doubt you will get a huge frop explosion.
