Update - Alterna #5 (HWY 349 female)

rpelaez Jul 04, 2005 08:07 PM

Well, I really thought it was going to be a 'repair' shed, not the pre-egg laying shed - because she didn't look as gravid as alterna #6, but today I found six eggs in her box - all look good. Good thing I put it in with her just to play it safe. Since I wasn't sure she was going to lay I continued to offer her meals; she took a weanling and an adult mouse only a few days after the shed, then refused the last feeding attempt two days ago. AHHHHHH...RP

Congratulations ! I was wondering if you'll be back down again next year. I'd like to hear the whole story again over a beer or two.

Tom, when you get this lucky, you start searching for explanations...at least I do. In the great cosmic scheme of things why did this happen to me...NOW? Forget about the rain that pounded Sanderson before I arrived. Forget about the low pressure system that may have stalled over Sanderson June 5th and June 6th. There were other hunters working some of the same areas and what did they find?? Exactly!! So, I think I've come up with the explanation that works best for me: the Big Guy upstairs gave me the ride of my life this year because I'm not living to see the next alterna season!

But, iff'n I do I promised the Big Guy no more Terrell County. Next year, I'm going to be all over the Davis Mts. like the proverbial fly on sh-t. Though a few beers might help me to remember how I came to be holding the black-on-black (alterna #2)
