gravid emerald??

tunahound Jul 04, 2005 10:51 PM

OK here is the scoop I have a northern that was with my male for a long period of time now I never witnessed copulation but she is getting large the question that I have is this. Will an emerald eat and then puke it up if she is gravid to protect the neonates? Any help with this matter will be extremely helpful as this is my first try with emeralds.

We have had gravid females refuse food after post ovulation shed and the we have had them eat up to 1-1/2 months before delivery, but never had any puke during gestation. How about some details on your female? BTW, generally after ovulation there will be a shed within 20-30 days.

Is she getting more girth to her ? you should be able to almost see her getting bigger day by day. I wouldn't try feeding her if she's regurging it will just stress her system more. I think you mentioned this before but how long have you had her? Randy

Hey Randy I have had her for about one year give or take and to me it looks like she is getting bigger

I have never had to deal with this in the past but I have heard that a animal will get bigger somethimes before it pukes. I highly doubt she is pregnant if this is what she is doing sound more like regurge syndrome. Is she wild caught? How are you housing her temps and so on.

Sounds like bloating prior to regurgitation to me. Bottom line, you're in trouble and she probably isn't viably pregnant. I'd say time for a Vet. Good luck.
