I have a small cuban tree frog in a 10 gal tank. He spends his days hiding inside an artificial tree stump and only comes out in the dead of night. I almost thought he was dead for a while because I hadn't seen him out and there were still crickets in his cage, but then I went to bed really late one night and he was sitting in his water pool. He used to come out when I fed him, but he hasn't seemed really interested in eating lately. I haven't fed him any more than usual (once, sometimes twice a week). He used to gobble them all up, but now I find that he's not eating them all. So I'm wondering, is this just typical nocturnal frog behaviour, is he sick or does he maybe need a tank mate to be more happy? I can probably get another cuban, or is something diurnal going to work? (it would be nice to see something during the day in that tank...). Just wanted to check with some people who knew more about frogs first before I did anything.

You should feed your Frog every 2 days at least. Also are you using a vitamin dust.

Well my FBT's sometimes don't even eat the day I put crix in there. They take their time, maybe that's what yours is doing.

If it doesn't start eating in 4-5 days I would put it in a quarintine setup and watch it closely and everyhting.

If you get another tank mate I would at least get a 20 gallon high if your getting another Cuban. 2 in a 10 gallon would be pretty small, especially when grown up. A 20 would be good for 2. The bigger the tank though, the better but at least a 20 for 2 Cubans.

Well you shouldn't mix different species of frogs and toads together.

he was out the other night - he's quite fat, maybe thats why he's not hungry. Crickets get dusted with vitamin powder every other feeding. Usually I'll throw more crickets in there when there's none left (why is it they always leave the chirpers till last????). He finally ate the 3 noisy ones that were in there for a week.
Could be the wierd weather we've been having here too... One day hot and sunny, next day pouring rain and so on. Maybe I'll just leave him on his own for a while longer and see if he becomes more active.
