Epoxy Glaze....?

striderjg Jul 05, 2005 07:44 AM

Hello all,
Well, I picked up a container of epoxy glaze to use to finish the inside of a large moniter cage I am building. I'm into rc, so I know that epoxy is some of the toughest stuff on earth. However, I'm thinking this glaze might be a differant mix that might not be suitable. The instructions comment on the surface denting if something heavy is left on it. I'm a bit worried that it won't be able to hold up to monitor claws. Is this a ok sealing product to use?
TIA
-John

if it is a 2 part epoxy glaze yes it will work perfectly fine. however realize that it will take you a couple months to get the coat to outgas.

The term epoxy is overused and really does not encompass similar products. When you say glaze is this stuff used on textured/faux finishes or what is it designed for?

Do you have an exact product name? A link would be great.

That product is one of many epoxies that are identical to Envirotex lite, an epoxy I have used myself.

It is a great product, very easy to use. However, due to how thick it needs to be applied it ends up being very expensive. Also, I'm not quite sure how it will hold up to scratching. I love the product bit given its cost I would be concerned about trying it in a monitor cage.

One advantage of this product is that there is not significant offgas time. You can have the animals in the cage within days.

Thanks much for the info. I actually already applied to the back. Lol, so I think I'm gonna give it a try since I have it. The flooring is gonna be cover'd with shower panel, so that is safe there. The caoting on that, is just insurance. If they wind up scraping up the back/sides/top, I'll probably just throw some money in for more paneling and panel over the whole interior. But I figure might as well give the epox. a try. Never learn'd anything from timidity
Thanks
