That didn't go as planned...

Sometimes things just don't go the way you expect.

My 2-year-old nephew was over for a party this weekend. He was looking at my lizards, and since I had turned the heat lamps off and they had cooled down a bit, I took the female out to show him.

I knelt down to his level and reminded him to look and not touch. Now, I'm not one to handle my lizards regularly, so Amaunette was a little upset and was gaping at me. No big deal.

No big deal, at least, until my 9-month-old Chessie pup snuck around and decided to sniff the weird thing in my hand. Before I knew what happened, Amaunette had bit him on the nose! He jumped back, and Amaunette had a good enough grip to be yanked from my hand and flung into the kitchen where she slid on the floor.

I quickly caught her and she was none the worse for wear. Fortunately, she had a low flight pattern and didn't hit hard. Poor thing! I was so focused on making sure the kid didn't get bit that I lost track of the dog. That won't happen again.

oh that really sucks, at least no one died! just make sure she is using all her limbs properly and nothing is swollen. i am sure she is ok because walter the first jumped over the staircase railing from the second floor and landed on the first floor, while in my mind in slow motion i was reaching out my hand going waaaaaaaalllllllllttterrrrrrrrr. i looked over the edge and he was running back up the stairs with a look on his face like "that was fun"

A 10' fall also happened to Sara 1 year ago. My girlfriend was keeping her in hands then Sara jumped off and ran trough the veranda. Sara was used to run into glass but this time, it was only bars.

Our little beast had NO scratches, nothing.

Trough evolution, crotaphytus collaris have certainly slep many many time from high rocks formations.

On the other hand, your dog learned that ... Small things may be as dangerous as big ones.

Yeah, she seems to be fine. She was running amok and gulping down crickets when I got home from work yesterday.

Yeah, the puppy is learning that not everything in life is fun and games. In the last couple of weeks, he has been struck at by a snake, zapped by an electric fence, and bitten by a lizard.
