Best way to move with a RES?

decacerata Jul 05, 2005 11:09 AM

I've had my RES, Tsuzuki, for a little over two years now. In two weeks we've moving to the other side of Florida. It'll be about a 5 hour car drive.

So whats the best way to move him? I've heard some people recommend just putting him on some damp paper towels in a rubbermaid container, but I can't see him enjoying that too much. But I don't know if he'd enjoy being in a rubbermaid container with some water in the car any better?

I haven't been able to find any real information on this so if you guys could give me some advice I'd really appreciate it! :D

The damp papertowles would be your best choice. Water would splash around there for throwing him around. Just make sure hes not right under an AC vent or anything.

Thank you!

Will he be okay like that for 5 hours?

RES dont need water like fish. They can be out of water for days with no ill effects. They do travel to find new ponds, I doubt your 5 hour car ride is going to be much of a challenge for a healthy turtle.

Thanks! More than anything I was worried about him being comfortable and not getting too stressed out.
