thought this was cute...

Just real quick on my break, I wanted to post this pic and tell a cute story (well I thought it was cute..)

Some of my boas get more attention than others. When I clean cages I like to open the next cage to be cleaned as well... this way the snake gets 'woken up' before I'm reaching in there to pull them out and also gives me an opportunity if the snake wants to crawl out to get some interaction time in besides the 'pick 'em up, into the temp tub, clean the cage, and back in they go' routine.

*anyways* I was cleaning my hog isle's cage which is right next to Vegas's cage... I opened up her top, she was in her hide and started cleaning out the hog's tank. I see Vegas start to come out of her hide to check out what's going on. She is one of the boas I spent quite a bit of time with esp when younger... I catch her sitting like this (see pic) and she is just hanging out there with her head on the pillowcase watching me, slowly flicking her tounge for about 15 min! Usually when I open the cage she'll come out completely and want to go explore, I've never seen her just chill and sit there while still in her cage.

Ok, so I am weird, but little interactions like this I really enjoy. Take it easy.. I'm going back to work!

Nothing "weird" about knowing the snakes that you keep and valueing them enough to interact with them and notice the nuances of their behaviour.

I believe thats called intelligence.

Thanks for sharing April!
