what kind of tegu baby is this?

alioops Jul 05, 2005 07:21 PM

I just received a baby tegu from the local reptile rescue group. They said it was an argentine black and white, but it doesn't look like mine did when she was little. I was wondering if it could be a red. Let me know what you think, those of you who have raised baby tegus. thanks-

I'm naming him/her Parleer. I't's a good eater, that's for sure, and immediately has figured out its indoor/outdoor space, where the hide spots are, where to sleep, drink, ect. It's amazing to me to see how much these lizards seem to know, even when they are very young, or kept in tanks, when you give them options they choose pretty good ones

This may help you to tell Argentines from Colombians in the future:

Great looking tegu you have there. One of the differnces may be that your tegu was a bit younger and still had much of the green on him. This one looks like the green has already started turning tan. It will then turn lighter and lighter until it is black and white.
