OT Post: re:Mr Froggy Bottoms

Sunshine Jul 05, 2005 07:57 PM

Froggy, my lymphoma kitty was euthanized on Friday after 2 rounds of chemo. I couldn't watch him hurt any longer. The wind actually hurt his foot. I have worked with dogs and cats for 20 yrs and have never personally (well, close to personal) anything like the the progression of this cancer. My Dad died in '88 with multiple brain lesions, pancreatic tumors, histoplasmosis, and innocent COPD after years of misery. It is sure a gentle, easier reprieve for our pets. Thank you all for your responses, they were considerate and well received. The treatment didn't really sit right with me the entire time, but somehow I was obsessed to follow through with it. There were no ill effects from the chemo, which I could see, and maybe my experience can benefit others in there options in the future. Afterall, I have several hundreds of dollars of already paid for drugs for donation to someone whose situation is more promising. I am really grateful that my decision wasn't based on the "I can't pay for that" that so many decisions arise from. Now, please, keep that in mind when I want YOUR baby BRB on payment plan! LOL, at least I hope that's funny. It just may be my reality when they're ready to be shipped.

At least he is not suffering and is in a better place now. I know it's very hard to let go of the loved little furry (and for us scaley) family we grow so close to. We had to let go of our family cat of 16 years last xmas, I still find myself missing the "little beast" as we used to call him.

Take care and I do hope to have something special for you in the next couple of months.

Linda,
....I am very sorry. I know it was tough to make the decison but it was the right thing to do.

Linda,
I'm sorry for your loss. That senario right there is the only downside of having a pet....
