I have the opportunity to buy a kane heat mat for a good price. The person said they bought the heat mat at a farm store, and it says that the mat is for outdoor use. Do you think I could use it in my vision cage for my boa?

Sure. The same ones I used.. the Kane Heat Matts are actually made for outdoors use on livestock.. we use it for larger snakes.
It comes enclosed in a hard plastic case, so it's more like a fairly flat plastic box kind of shape.
You could just lay it in there, or even screw it in place.
The key is to regulate the heat. If you don't, the heat is too strong and can burn paper, bedding, snakes, the cage, and itself.
