How long to wait on eggs to hatch/incubate?

astronut1885 Jul 06, 2005 12:14 AM

Hey guys. Back on June 4th, my 3yr old female laid a pair of eggs. I've been incubating them at 84 degrees since. When I candle them, I see a small pink dot, but nothing else. One is pretty dented. Tonight I found a little bit of mold on one, so I brushed it off and changed the perlite. I assume after 30 days of incubating, that if they were fertile I'd see more than a little pink dot in there, but I'm not sure. How long should I wait on these eggs before I dispose of them? Also, they never grew in size, whereas my week old eggs from my patternless have already grown significantly, and the eggs from my jungle have alot of pink in them. I just don't want to toss viable eggs, but I also don't want bad eggs staying in my incubator going moldy.

Sorry, I was mistaken. They were laid the night of June 13th. Even so, I'm still not sure what their deal is.

Odds are the egg isn't any good, but I would incubate it anyways in a different container than the others. We had some that incubated for almost 90 days and last night I opened it up to see what was going on. And there was a baby in there, but it had died who knows how long ago. It was fully formed except one of it's organs had developed on the the outside of its body. I would just wait it out and see. We have had 2 hatch at 45 days and others that hatched at about 60. Hope all turns out well for you.

I didn't look for more detail then that.. but I made the mistake of asking my hubby to turn up the temp and he turned it DOWN instead (On day 37) so they went down to around 70 for a night, so we will see what happens =(

I would wait a week on yours but mine never dented, molded or anything, they just got bigger.
