Those are some great photos! What areas of the state did you find them? I'm curious of their range as I am in Minnesota. What was the largest you have seen in WI?
-----
Matt from Minnesota
SW Wisconsin. They extend up the Wisconsin River a ways, also the Mississippi into the St. Croix and Chippewa Rivers. Unfortunately, their range is not large and they are considered to be in decline. It would not surprise me if they end up on the endangered list in the near future.

...love the high black at the front of the body and head. Thanks for sharing; good to see wild bulls thriving there.

Awsome pictures Tim ,keep them coming.John

Nice bullsnake yourself. I'm not familiar with all the morphs. What is that one?

Tim
Thanks Tim it is a Albino Southern Pine male.
Awesome field pics Tim! Thanks for posting. Those Wi bulls are indeed special. Phil
I haven't been able to get out much lately, so I had to recycle some of these shots. I guess you caught me - lol. I took my daughters out yesterday afternoon to catch frogs. They ended up covered in muck head to toe - great fun. My youngest caught her first frog by hand, a significant milestone in any herpers career.

Hi Tim
If I "haddachoose1" (hehe) I would say that I would agree with Jeremy that the last pic is very nice. The sun light really captures the contrast of the animals colors. Keep the pics coming and good luck herping in WI. Take care.

Thanks Jonel. I have been on your site a number of times and I must say you working with some awesome animals. I like your choice in Pits and the thayeri are my favorite of all the "pretty" snakes. I have one of Ginter's Kingsville, TX bulls myself. Beautiful snake and almost 5' at 2 years. Take care.

Hi Tim,
I love those contrastful bull snakes, too and often saw your outranging (Pituophis-) photos at fieldherpers . ...
Great work of you! Thanks for sharing!
...thus I must say, that it would be very hard for me to leave all those pretty bull snakes in their habitat
There is always space for one further beautiful pair of bulls in my snake room.

Thanks Bernd. I have a Texas locality bullsnake at home, so I'm ok. The best part about releasing them is watching them crawl off. They are very graceful for a large serpent and their saddles have a strobe effect as they move through the vegetation. Very cool.

That last pic just blows me away, the contrast is amazing. Thanks for posting them. I found an irate Garter this weekend while getting some wood out for the fire. Gotta love how spunky they can be even at a small size.
Have a good one,
Gregg F.

I've always been most fond of Wisconsin Bulls, and these photos show why they are the "Cadillac" of sayi.. Classic "Tri-color" Bulls. Glad to know that there are still a few people out there who get out in the field to experience these and other herps. I love to herp Wisconsin, hope to do so again, it's great to see Bulls in that beautiful state. Thanks for sharing these photos.
