Thermostat Placement?

lgehrig4 Jul 06, 2005 10:24 AM

I just built a nice 6 shelf rack(24Wx18Dx48H) and ran 3" heat tape through all the shelves. Where would be the best place for the thermostat?

Some of my thoughts
1. On the tape itself on the outside so that I am controlling the heat of the actual tape. I would just have to find a parallel b/t this and the cage temp.
2. On the hot spot of the top cage?
3. On the hot spot of the bottom cage?

I would like to avoid having to deal with wires when I pull out the cages so I am leaning towards option #1.

What is the best or most popular way?

thanks
jeff

Number one is your best bet.. I actually do this with my cages as well. I dont like the probes anywhere near the animals as they can alter the temps but simply laying ont he probe...
