Hypomelanistic Cali Kings? ....

HerperHelmz Jul 06, 2005 01:08 PM

Do they exist? I've seen very little of these for sale, only twice, I got one of the people to send me a pic of one of them and it just looks like a light colored cali king. They said the flash ruined the colors but they look much better in person.

Are Hypo Cali Kings pure?

How exactly would someone go about creating Hybino Cali Kings? Breeding 2 DH Hypo/Albinos together?

Yes they exist. You can see some pics at www.kingsnake.com/merker/. I think somewhere in northern Calif (or central Calif, I forgot) is an area where hypo Cal kings are sometimes found along with normals. That is the natural-occuring hypo.

If you consider the lavender Cal kings hypo, then there are those as well, but they are not locality specific.

Napa county (Northern California - Bay area) is one place where I have found them in the wild (when I lived there a long time ago). About one out of every 20 would probably best descibe the ratio in that area. . . They are beautiful snakes IMO.
