Rescue boa still on hunger strike please help

tredding Jul 06, 2005 05:45 PM

Well again today I offered a medium sized frozen rat. This time in her cage. She just sits and stares. It has been over a month without food. Temps are 82-95. Everything is clean and dry. No sickness. The only thing I can think of now is live rat. Again, I have no idea of her history so she may very well be used to live feeding. But why did she eat 3 times frozen?
Any ideas may help
Thanks
Travis

Hi,
1 month is certainly nothing to alarm youself over. I've had various boas/pythons go on several month feeding strikes for no apparent reason. One thing I've done that has worked and it may sound weird is I dipped the prey item in chicken broth and believe it or not it worked 3 times.

I agree, this has worked several times for me as well.
