RETF Lighting and Heating

jrmcent98 Jul 06, 2005 06:33 PM

I just ordered a RETF and planning to recieve it sometime next week. I heard that they need UV light but then I also read on the furoms that they do not require any lighting. I live in New York so my house does not stay warm most of the time and I am worried about it getting to cold. My question is what kind of light should I get and how high should the watt be. Thank you for your help.

It all depends on how large an enclosure you have and how far the light fixture is above it. Nocturnal frogs generally do not require UV lighting, but bulbs like repti sun are good for any plants you have in the enclosure, and will give off a few degrees of heat. Plus is looks nicer than having a dark tank all the time. If you can keep your house temperature above 70 degrees, that's all the lighting you should need.
