So glossy black he looks blue

Keith Hillson Jul 06, 2005 11:09 PM

I love this snake he is so damn glossy black he has blue highlights all over like an indigo snake. His belly reflects prismatic colors as well. I ainbt one to brag (lol) but he may be one of the finest looking Easterns around. I produced him in 2003 from my old Monmouth Co., NJ male and a exceptional black and white Burlington Co.,. NJ female. Like a dumb ass I didnt pair these up this year...ah well live and learn.

Hey Greg

How are ya ? I did get the pics but I actually like the one I put up better as it shows off that killer noggin really well. If you can lay that big boy in the grass and get me a full body shot. The key is to cover him up with a bowl or something then remove it and start snappin' pics. Tell Mike that DC King he sent me with the orange on the neck has lost it's orange as I told him it would. Now its sortta of a dirty yellow there but still a pretty snake.

Odd that both coasts of America have Kingsnakes which are banded, while interior areas show more solid or other patterns.

I really enjoy a certain Cal King look, especially Mojave Desert phase, but West Coast specimens of either Cal Kings or Mexican Blacks lack the bluish tinge found in Easterns. (Your thinner lines also seem somewhat sophisticated to me.)

One consolation: Bellies of Mexican Blacks are an iridescent silvery-blue. Unlike any others I've ever seen.

You keep showing off your bluish tinge, we'll continue enjoying our sharp contrast and extra wide bands.

I agree those Cals have some very sharp contrasting patterns. I love the Cals especially a nice striped desert with the slight white side walls. Here is a Eastern King from Florida that gets close to those cals in contrats and pattern.
