help.... again

lawgnome Jul 07, 2005 01:53 AM

hey i thought of a few more questions id like to ask. first of ive had my snake fore about 3-4 weeks. i gave it over a full week to get it use to its new habitat, then id pick him up for about 5-10 min a day, i could usually tell when he had enough. anyways i was wondering if he should still be really scared of me and is there anything i can do to speed this process up. another question is how long after feeding him should i waite to handle him again. finally everytime that i have observed him during the early hrs of the morning all he does is just go along the top trying to escape pretty much the entire night. i do have an aqaurium with a screen top which i know doesnt help, but is there anything i can do to get him to stop doing that.. thanks again

From your previous post - I gather it's an adult ball - which problably means that it is pretty much set in it's ways - it sounds like it's just not a "freindly" snake - depending on what signals hes giving you that made you think he's scared (curling up in a ball, hissing, pees on you when you hold him, etc) he may or may not come around.

another question is how long after feeding him should i waite to handle him again.

Best to wait at 48 but at the very least 24 hours.

Welcome to the world of balls - that's what they do for entertainment they try to escape - they are magnificent escape artists - make sure you've got that screen locked down tight - do not underestimate him or he'll be off for a game of hide and seek in no time. Also make sure that there is nothing sharp or hot up there near the top you don't want him hurting himself.

About the tail thing - not sure - could be a previous injury?
