breeding questions??

bryanna509 Jul 07, 2005 06:31 AM

hi guys and gals! my name is scott and i am new to this site. i have a ball python and a apricot pueblan. i have never breed before and am interested in giving it a try. i would like to become as educated as possible before trying it though. does any one have any suggestions on some good books for first time breeders to get started? any other advise would be greatly appreciated, like good snakes to breed for first timers. i was kind of thinking about milks, kings, corns or normal bp's to start. thank you for any help.

There are a couple of new books about to come out I think (one from NERD and one from VPI) that I'm sure will be good but the old standard first ball python book is "The Ball Python Manual" available in many pet stores now. Kingsnake and many breeder websites also have how to pages. The thing about normal ball pythons is that you can't possibly compete with the ball python eggs collected from the wild in Africa with 3rd world labor. If you want to have a shot at paying for your feeders and other expenses you are going to need to breed a morph of some type.
