New BP Owner with a question

rabernet Jul 07, 2005 06:50 AM

Good morning everyone! I'm expecting my first BP to be delivered today and I'm very excited!

I do have a question (or two or three). I was told that he's been fed on Sundays, one live hopper a week.

1) Should I try to feed him this Sunday, or should I give him more time to get settled?

2) Should I feed him live on his first feeding with me?

3) Any suggestions on the best way to transition to f/t?

4) He's supposed to be 2 months old, what's the longest I should allow him to go without eating if he initially refuses f/t?

Thanks for taking the time to answer this new BP owner's questions!

Robin

you can try to feed him this sunday, but don't be alarmed if it dosen't take it. it usually takes a few weeks for a snake to settle down and get used to it's new enviroment. the delivery process puts the snake through some stress. you should try to refrane from handleing it until it eats for you a couple of times. as for transitioning from live to f/t, you can try alternating acouple of live feedings and then a f/t. good luck.
