i was wondering,if one where to have a semi large colony of darts in a large enclosure, could you culture insects right in the vivarium and create some sort of mini biosphere where the insects, like flightless friutflies, springtails, ants ect, breed and colonise, making in unnessisary to feed your darts on your own? i mean at least not have to feed on a regualr basis?just feed the insect cultures

Two groups of people are doing this right now. One group of people have started putting compost bins in their tanks and seperating the compost bin from the rest of the tank with tree fern panels. The insects can eat in the compost pile and then venture into the tanks.

Another group (well, I have only met one person who does this and only recently) puts fly culture cups in the tanks. He said he would dump a bunch of vitamin powder in the cups and leave the cultures in the tanks for 3-4 weeks. I would wonder how sanitary this was and how much vitamins actually got on the flies.
