I have been looking online at caresheets to see how to sex a tegu and it states that they have 2 spurs at the vent, which would be a male. But it doesnt state how old they have to be in order to see these spurs. Does anyone know the age of when tegus can be sexed?

much older than your tegu I'm afraid. 
for now you could take him to a reputable herp vet and have him probed for the best guesstimate on his/her sex...just noticed I keep calling it him...what a sexism assumption.
It's either that or the easy way...wait and see.
