First time breeding kings... egg question...

ZFelicien Jul 07, 2005 03:05 PM

ok.... I got 13 eggs from my Goini female (first time breeder)on the 6th of June.... I check on them today (July 7th), some of them look irregularly shaped at the base (they were all pretty regular when they were laid)...

they all look bigger...

and two of them felt soft(compared to the other 11), my fingers left indentations in the 2 soft eggs, but the popped right back out when I put them down.

(additional info: they are being incubated in a plastic shoe, on moist moss... I've never added water to the moss since I set the eggs in them, the water condenses on the lids and falls back into the "mix"

is there something wrong/right? any info is appreciated

I bought me a tiny humidity thingy from zoo med at a local pet store. I always ended up adding water to my incubation medium after the halfway point. This year I have not, and I can see that my humidity is quite high. If you could score one of those you could decide if you need to make your box more damp or dry. Not an easy thing to figure out. Rather than mess with eggs by poking them and moving them around, to figure out how humid it is in the box will be a big help. If it were me I might put a little extra damp moss next to the two questionable eggs to see if they fill out again Tom Stevens
