How do I turn her off?

anson Jul 07, 2005 06:07 PM

My Beardie has laid three clutches and I want her to stop.
How do I get her to stop laying clutches now. Should I cool her a bit or just lower the amount of daylight hours some.
Which works better? It's really hot here in FL so lowering the amount of daylight hours is easier.
Is Cheri out there someone told me to ask her?

Anson you cannot turn her off it doesn't work like that. If she is housed with a male then remove her from the enclosure. My dragon is on her eighth clutch and she hasn't seen a male since her before her fourth clutch.

and has not been with a male since.
You mean she will just keep on laying eggs!
I don't want her to get sick or anything. She was pretty thin after the last batch. Is there anything I can do to stop her?

Its like trying to stop a hurricane you can't do it. Just feed her as much as she'll eat after she lays her eggs to help her get her weight back before the next batch also make sure that she gets enough calcium too by dusting everything she eats. Thats what I did for my girl after she laid her eggs and I think there's more to come but I'll just have to wait and see.

There is one heading for us now. Actually I am in Tampa so it should only graze us as it passes by. I will feed her plenty and hope she stops laying eggs soon. She sure has laid an awful lot from one mating.

Don't breed her anymore. you got her addicted to the mating process. good luck.
