burrow for the dude

i just got a pice of pvc pipe for him to use as a burrow, but heres the question... should i put it on the warm or cold side, the warm side has a UTH, and i dont want it to get too hot for him, should i stick my thermometer prob in there ya thing... ya i know i should know this just see'n if you think he'll just leave if he gets too hott. thanks.
