I just got back herping from North Carolina.. despite the heat i think i found some nice finds... The first snake on the trip was a nice northern copperhead found while riding the four wheeler in a pasture.. With my hopes up i checked 4 old abandoned chicken houses finding skins everywhere.. while searching through the rafters i caught 8 adult black rats,1 yellow rat snake, and a intergrade the largest was a black rat that was 7 feet or more.. then we spotted a tarp on the ground underneith it was a huge canebrake rattlesnake!!!! 11 rattlers in a button and was very docile didnt even rattle.. so after that we went to the zoo and caught 2 black racers roaming about the exibits.then we arrived home and heard the airdales ( dogs) barking and i went over and there was a juvie eastern kingsnake right outside the cage in stike position.. that was a lifer but most these snakes were lol.. then before leaving i found 3 redbelly snakes and a ringneck under some tin.. D.O.R.s on the trip was eastern muds, canebrakes, copperheads, corns, rats, black racers, eastern hogs, eastern coachwhips, and a brown water snake.. nice snakes and good finds for a summer day..

nice im originally from charlotte, about to move back in a couple weeks from raleigh. there are some nice spots out there still, although theres been a whole lot of development. my back yard is a good place, for one, although the briars make it difficult to get back there anymore.
