Biggest Burm Alive

coyotethug Jul 08, 2005 12:21 AM

I used to have a burm in college, but I have focused on mostly ball pythons for the last few years since my burm died. When I was away on winter break the electric company shut off the electricity on my place instead of my neighbors and she froze to death along with 3 other snakes of mine. I was wondering what the largest burm out there is now. I know that when I had my baby there was a 28 footer in Wisconsin at Serpent Safari. I saw her in person, she was huge. I didn't see her measured but she was larger than the 24ft albino mother of my burm. Anyone out there have one in that range or larger? I would love to see pictures. Maybe when the price goes down on the dwarfs I will get another burm.

Not sure how accurate this is, but in one of the articles from the ban affecting KY, a man claims that he has a 27 footer.

Now that's impressive. It reminds me of one of the Burms we worked with at the carnival. How much and often do you feel this beauty?

The biggest I have read about is baby (if she is still alive) and last measured, she was 28' and real heavy.

In these years I have often listened people that affirm to have burmese longer of 20 feet but nobody has ever given test with photo or other.

Currently, the real tests are of burmese between the 20 and the 21 feet.

"baby" 28 footer in Wisconsin at Serpent Safari is dead.

I have read that baby died, but it seems like someone replied to one of those threads saying that it was just a rumor.

Nice burm. Is this a custom enclosure you built in your house? What are you currently feeding him?

The enclosure measures 4x2 meters (13.12 x 6.56 feet) and is built dividing in two a room.

Currently she eats around 15 Kg (33 Pounds) of rabbits or chickens every 30 days.

Its record is a small ostrich of 23 Kg (50 Pounds)

This is a 2001 photo when she was 3 years old

I saw baby about 5 years ago and she was huge. A friend of mine in Michigan has a 24 ft albino female that was usually around 350lbs depending on breeding condition and whatnot. During breeding season she would swell up over 400, but after laying her clutch of 80-100 eggs she would usually get back down to 300-350. I was intimately familiar with my friends snake, she was 125lb woman and she needed my help to get the big girl out to feed her. Baby was significantly larger, I think the 28 ft measurement was legitimate. The web site says she is still alive and now at 403lbs. The park is in the Gurnee Mills mall outside Chicago, but actually in Wisconsin. I have a college friend who is from that area and when we went to the mall to get some shoes we happened to walk by it. Other than baby they have an albino alligator, multiple albino iguanas, a huge green anaconda, and a bunch of other cool herps. It is a must see for any herp enthusiast and I have no idea why it was left out of the reptiles magazine issue on herp attractions.
