How to Sex a Pacman????

sallie_keeper Jul 08, 2005 02:00 AM

How do I tell difference between a mr. Pacman and a Mrs. Pacman??? I have a good size paccy and I would love to learn to breed them, but I need to know how to tell what is what...so they will breed and not eat each other.

I have tried all of the regular frog tricks to get my frog to chirp, but nothing.. I have picked up at waist, tickled the sides to get a release call and looked at hands for nuptual pads. Nothing.. BUT I do get a small "bup" call while it is puffing up..but it is very faint, and may be the results of taking in air.

Anyone know?? Anyone ever breed them??? Is there a book or website that has a visual guide that will help???

Thanks in advance,

Harpy

Well, they are from what I know pretty hard to sex.
Some clues:

1. The male pacman gets a black "beard" under his "chin"/on his throat during the mating season.
2. Females usually get bigger than males, reaching up to 6" while males are usually 3-4"
3. Males croak
4. Males get nuptial pads

And I think that's it...

Breeding isn't supposed to me an easy match eather
