can you tell what kind of snake this is ???

ksnakeman Jul 08, 2005 07:57 AM

I live in KS When I found this snake in my daylight window. I think it is a garder snake. But I remember playing with them when I was a kid and I don't remeber this being this big. I put water in there tell I could figure out what kind it is and it struck at me. I don't think I had one do that also when I was a kid so any help would be great! Thanks

Does anyone else here think that these scrolling signature lines are stupid?

It's a Garter Snake. Most of them i catch are around 2 foot but occasionally run across a big mama that can be around 3 foot. Also more then 75 % of the garters i catch are mean and will bite you . Bites aren't too painful .

That's definitely a red sided garter. I currently have 2 females. My larger female is around 28 inches long and very feisty. My younger one is friendly, around 16 inches, and has never attempted to bite.
