Does anyone use fake plants? If not what live plants do you suggest?
Thanks for any help.

you can use fake ones, just keep them clean (in case he poops in it). I use snake plant aka sansevieria which is thick and leathery so will withstand any abuse he chooses to give it - it requires minimal human care, too . here's a link to them and a pic of Darwin hugging it when he was younger. He now has a larger one in his tank

sansevieria

Nice picture! Iwas also wondering if aloe plants are toxic.
Thanks again for your help.

Alos plants are NOT toxic, the very opposite. I keep several aloe plants, both in my tanks and for my kitchen for burns! I get them free from FreeAloeGuy.
